Pool Closed Today, June 13th, For Maintenance

Apologies for the inconvenience, but the pool will be closed today for maintenance. We are trying to take advantage of the cooler weather and work on the pool now in hopes for shorter periods of down time during the busiest (and warmest) parts of the summer.

As you all can imagine maintaining a pool is much like the saying about owning a boat, the cost and maintenance is almost endless. We appreciate your continued patience.

Pool Opening Update

The will be opening tomorrow, Thursday June 1st!

You heard that right! If you have still not returned your completed pool rules you can find the file in the Facebook Group under the files tab or it is attached below for your convenience. Completed forms can be emailed to officers(at)oakhillsouth.net.

Thank you for your patience during this renovation and reopening period. Enjoy the summer, follow the rules, be kind, and be safe. Our pool is a privilege!

Pool Opening

Since the pool renovation project had some weather delays, we were forced to begin the chemical balancing and cleaning process of the new pool later than usual.

Per Aquatic Academy, who we contract with to clean and balance the chemicals in the pool, the earliest the pool would be able to open is Thursday, June 1st. For now, we will plan to have everything ready on this date.

If you have not signed the new pool rules, those will need to be signed and returned prior to enjoying the pool. Aly Martin will be at the pool tomorrow, Monday morning, May 29th, from 9-11am to collect pool rules, accept dues payments, and answer any questions about pool cards. She will also have blank copies for those who need a new one.

Thank you for your continued patience during what has been the largest community project in quite some time. We look forward to seeing everyone enjoying the new pool and hope we have a great pool season this year.

Pool Update

Thanks to the actions of a few ignorant people, the pool is closed today. There is no need to share the details of what happened as it is exactly the response they are looking for. If you have any camera footage of the incident (occurred at 1:19am on 06/30), please share with the board so we can permanently remove their pool access.

Pool Update

Residents,

I’m pretty disappointed with the actions and behaviors of the pool-goers this year. Please take time to review the posted rules and follow them. If you have teens going to the pool, remind them to dress appropriately and if they listen to music it must be suitable for all ages (this applies to everyone). The HOA board is not here to police the pool, all of the residents should do it. If you live in this neighborhood and do not like the actions you see, say something. The pool is a privilege, not a right. To the people that decided to use a confetti bomb at the pool, pretty poor form.

Be better, everyone.

Pool Update

We would like to inform your that due to rain, lack of sun & the cool weather the pool water temperature is currently between 62-65 degrees which is not recommended to swim in as it is unsafe for your body.
We have been advised not to open the pool on Friday, May 27th and we will monitor the situation for Saturday as well.

Rough Surfaces on Pool

OHS Residents, concern has been expressed about abrasions or cuts on feet from the bottom of the pool. At this time, no foreign object such as glass has been found by Olympic pool company or residents. Possibilities discussed include a rough edge or area, but this also has not been located. It is also possible that a combination of semi-abrasive surfaces are causing gradual abrasions on toes, etc. which then begin bleeding, but not due to a one time puncture, etc. For the time being, it may be beneficial to check kids’ feet after swimming for 15 or 20 minutes to make sure they are still okay. If your child experiences this, please do your best to ask them if they know where it happened and email the board of directors to let us know. We are sorry this has occurred!! Thank you for keeping us informed.

On a different note, we have had a few complaints about chairs being thrown in the pool, the hose tied from ladder to ladder, trash left lying around, food thrown in the pool, etc. Due to the frequency of these concerns, conversation is beginning to occur regarding the need for a possible pool attendant. The obvious hitch here is the cost. Please… talk with all members of your family who use the pool about leaving it in equal or better condition than found so OHS can continue to spend money from dues on upkeep and updates, such as our pond aerators which are in working order as of yesterday. Thank you to all of you who are contributing to the improvement and success of OHS as a thriving neighborhood and the place to buy a house in an increasingly developing area of Lee’s Summit.

**POOL IS OPEN AND POOL REMINDERS**

Hi Neighbors,

The pool is going to remain open at this time.  We attempted to close it on Saturday so that the pool company could do additional work since 2 more people cut their feet on Friday. Unfortunately, when the pool was full of people even though there was a CLOSED sign on the door.  He did what he could on Sunday morning and hopefully all the glass is gone for good.  For now, the pool is open but please be aware of the possibility of leftover glass, so you are using the pool at your own risk.  If there is glass spotted again, we will close the pool to be completely drained.

With this being said, please understand that there are ABSOLUTELY NO GLASS ITEMS ALLOWED in the pool area. This includes goggles, swim masks, drink bottles, baby bottles, glass dishes, etc.  People are in this area bare footed, and we can not risk the chance of any more broken glass and putting our neighbors in danger.  None of us want to have the pool closed and the additional cleaning is an additional expense for the entire neighborhood. Please make smart choices AND if you see someone in the pool area with a banned item, please remind the neighbor it is not allowed and you can report it to the board at officers(at)oakhillsouth.net.

Guests–we have had complaints already about excessive number of guests at the pool. We love for our neighbors to have friends at the pool, but lets remember this is a private pool to be used by 147 homes, so lets be considerate about how many guests we have at the pool.  3-4 guests are no problem for normal pool use. If you want to have a birthday party, etc at the pool, please reach out to the board to get approved and we will post to our neighbors about the party so everyone will know we will have extra people at the pool. Please do try to limit party guests to 8-10. Also, anytime you bring a guest to the pool, your are responsible if they break rules or damage property.  We already have a section of the fence broken from people climbing over it.  It will be an expensive fix and hopefully the last one of the season.

Lastly, we have already had 2 instances where teenagers were in the pool after it has closed for the night. Pool hours are 10a-9pm with Adult only swim from 9p-10p. NO ONE is allowed to swim after 10p and the Lees Summit police will be called if anyone is trespassing in the pool after 10p.  If your child is caught in the pool after hours, your card will be suspended.

Hopefully this week will be the only rough week we have at the pool this summer. Lets all enjoy this pool season.

***POOL UPDATE****

Neighbors–our pool company is doing a final sweep this morning and the pool should be open around noon. They do believe they got all the glass, but please be aware that there is still a chance of little pieces being in the pool. if you see any additional glass, please email the officers at: officers(at)oakhillsouth.net. ALSO, a reminder, THERE IS NO GLASS ALLOWED IN THE POOL AREA!! NO GLASS GOGGLES AND NO GLASS BOTTLES.

One more item…we all signed pool rules this year to gain access to the pool. This is our neighborhood and if we see someone at the pool not abiding by the rules, anyone has the right to tell someone they are not following rules. if you see children at the pool unattended by an adult, please ask them to leave. If you see people throwing furniture in the pool, please ask them to leave. We have no full time management of the pool and while many people on the board are available most of the time, we may not be able to run up to the pool at any given time. If we know of rules being broken, we do have the right to suspend pool priveledges. Also, we have already caught teenagers up at the pool late at night. Parents–remind your kids that they are not allowed to swim after 9pm (9-10p is adult homeowner swim only). We can tell whose card gained access to the pool and this also will cause your pool card to be suspended.

Remember we enforce these rules to keep our pool maintained, our neighbors safe and our pool opened! Thanks for your support and enjoy the pool!
